Releases:Release Notes 2.0

These are the “running” or incremental release notes for Camino 2.0 (☢), i.e., the interesting bug-fixes since the last major release (e.g., 1.5) or milestone (e.g., Camino 1.6 Alpha 1). The actual release notes for major releases, milestones, or security releases can be found on the corresponding Releases:Ver:Notes page, e.g., Releases:1.6b1:Notes.

(Note that not all checkins are considered interesting; in particular, fixes for regressions that only occur between milestones, code cleanup, or build changes are not included in release notes.)

There are several pages that track "major" changes on the trunk. These could be useful when we create our final release notes. What's new on the trunk for Firefox 3.

These running release notes (and the milestone release notes that are developed from them) form the "complete" changelog on the website (1.0, 1.5); the release notes for the final 2.0 release are a summary or short-form and can be found at Releases:2.0:Notes.

These notes are for checkins after the release of Camino 2.0b3.

General

• Camino now supports the multi-touch “pinch” gesture for zooming a webpage.
• The “visit count” property of bookmarks and the “id” property of windows are again functional in AppleScripts.
• Copying the location of a bookmark, link, or image and pasting into Pages documents or rich-text Mail messages now succeeds.
• When quitting and restarting after an automatic update, Camino will now save and restore pages that were open before quitting regardless of whether the “Load the pages that were open before quitting” preference is enabled.

Localization

• The “Open URL in Camino” service name is now localizable.

Preferences

• Streamlined the appearance of the Fonts tab of the Appearance preference pane.
• When choosing fonts in the Appearance preference pane, Camino will more accurately display the selected fonts, especially for East Asian languages.

Privacy & Security

• Improved the appearance of certificate and network error pages.
• Camino now supports the Google Safe Browsing service to provide warnings about potentially malicious websites.
• Users can report unblocked potentially malicious websites using the “Report Phishing Page…” item in the “Help” menu.

Tabs

• Camino will now properly display a warning when closing all windows if one window contains multiple tabs.

User Interface

• Added a menu item to toggle the zoom keyboard shortcuts between full-content zoom and larger or smaller text.
• Camino now uses 10.5-style folder icons on Mac OS X 10.5 and newer.
• The Bookmark Bar and tab bar now better match the overall appearance of Mac OS X 10.5 and newer.

Web Page Interaction

• Reduced the scale factor used by the full-content zoom.
• Improved ad-blocking.
