[12:09pm] cl: ah, there he is
[12:09pm] cl was promoted to operator by you.
[12:09pm] You changed the topic to "http://wiki.caminobrowser.org/Status_Meetings:2009-06-24:Agenda".
[12:12pm] dan was promoted to operator by you.
[12:12pm] hendy was promoted to operator by you.
[12:12pm] murph was promoted to operator by you.
[12:12pm] kreeger joined the chat room.
[12:12pm] kreeger was promoted to operator by you.
[12:13pm] ardissone|foraging: ok, everyone have your 2.0b3 or newer open to http://wiki.caminobrowser.org/Status_Meetings:2009-06-24:Agenda ?
[12:13pm] ardissone|foraging: smorgan: we expecting pink, or is he still wresting with that throbber
[12:14pm] pinkerton joined the chat room.
[12:14pm] pinkerton was promoted to operator by chanserv.
[12:14pm] pinkerton: sorry, swamped today
[12:14pm] ardissone|foraging: hehe
[12:14pm] ardissone|foraging: ok
[12:14pm] ardissone|foraging: we heard about that throbber
[12:14pm] pinkerton:
[12:15pm] ardissone|foraging:
[12:15pm] smorgan: Pff. What kind of lame-ass browser can't put throbbers on its tabs?
[12:15pm] smorgan: Oh, wait
[12:15pm] ardissone|foraging: every one that cares about performance?
[12:15pm] ardissone|foraging: anywyay
[12:15pm] pinkerton: but safari is the fastest browser in the known and unknown universe!
[12:16pm] ardissone|foraging: hyatt must have used a dirty trick
[12:16pm] ardissone|foraging: so, 2.0b3 is three weeks old now
[12:16pm] ardissone|foraging: last week was apparently slightly less crashy for it
[12:17pm] ardissone|foraging: generic Flash crashes account for 22% of the (2-weeks) crashes
[12:17pm] ardissone|foraging:
[12:17pm] ardissone|foraging: that bizarre NSApplication sendEvent: crash is still up there
[12:18pm] ardissone|foraging: then flash+exposé
[12:18pm] ardissone|foraging: then some objc exception in the appshell
[12:18pm] ardissone|foraging: then the swizzling bug that should be fixed in nightlies
[12:18pm] ardissone|foraging: and the long tail got much, much longer
[12:19pm] ardissone|foraging: anyone have anything else on b3?
[12:20pm] ardissone|foraging: we released 1.6.8 on Monday and added Simp. Chinese for the first time since 0.8.5(!)
[12:21pm] ardissone|foraging: next up in new languages is probably going to be Slovenian
[12:21pm] ardissone|foraging: i suspect Jan might have a translation done by the time we do 1.6.9 if the Gecko release gap is as long as it was this time
[12:22pm] kreeger left the chat room. (Quit: kreeger)
[12:22pm] ardissone|foraging: crashes so far were uninteresting, other than Flash is a full 1/3 of them (no big surprise )
[12:22pm] ardissone|foraging: anyone have anything else on 1.6.x?
[12:24pm] ardissone|foraging: ok
[12:24pm] ardissone|foraging: dan: SoC updates from your neck of the woods?
[12:25pm] dan: Not really. Everything's looking good
[12:25pm] ardissone|foraging: first patch is out for sr, right?
[12:26pm] dan: yes, bug 496495 I think
[12:26pm] dan: autocomplete from bookmarks looks good other than if you happen to have any sites that have been redirected
[12:27pm] dan:
[12:27pm] ardissone|foraging: that's a lot of the web these days
[12:27pm] dan: yes, and as far as I can tell there's no way to know if a certain site is a redirect?
[12:28pm] dan: like mail.google.com from gmail.com
[12:28pm] cl: lol
[12:28pm] cl: i TOLD you
[12:28pm] dan: I'm working on a plan though
[12:28pm] ardissone|foraging:
[12:28pm] cl: (dan missed the conversation we had in #camino`sex about this last night)
[12:29pm] dan: oh
[12:29pm] ardissone|foraging: so did everyone else save hendy
[12:29pm] dan: This will work out
[12:29pm] ardissone|foraging: anywway
[12:29pm] ardissone|foraging: good
[12:29pm] cl: dan: i'm curious to know what your plan is, because that might be another way to solve bug 311409
[12:30pm] dan: I'll let you know when it works
[12:30pm] ardissone|foraging: ok, sounds good
[12:31pm] ardissone|foraging: moving on, then?
[12:31pm] ardissone|foraging: 2.0
[12:32pm] ardissone|foraging: murph: you have some updated patches in for safebrowsing and CJK nightmares?
[12:32pm] murph: yep, just refreshed the CJK patch again today, from yesterday's update, and the safebrowsing bar is in the sr queue
[12:33pm] ardissone|foraging:
[12:35pm] You left the chat by being disconnected from the server.
[12:35pm] You rejoined the room.
[12:35pm] You were promoted to operator by chanserv.
[12:36pm] ardissone: internet
[12:36pm] ardissone: it looks like the CJK bug is getting closer, which is good
[12:36pm] ardissone: smorgan: anything more on josh's patch or other stuff from you?
[12:37pm] smorgan: No, I haven't had time to look at that again yet
[12:37pm] ardissone: k
[12:37pm] ardissone: hendy: utf-8 or zoom?
[12:38pm] hendy: utf-8 patch is awaiting r
[12:38pm] hendy: i have a working impl of 'text zoom only', just need to put a patch together
[12:39pm] hendy: and find a reviewer
[12:39pm] hendy: then it's on to zoom increments
[12:39pm] ardissone:
[12:40pm] ardissone: cl: anything besides aviation?
[12:40pm] cl: not really
[12:40pm] cl: i haven't even been home-home in like two weeks
[12:40pm] ardissone:
[12:41pm] ardissone: fun-fun
[12:41pm] ardissone: anyone have anything else on 2.0?
[12:42pm] ardissone: (anyone seen jeff?)
[12:43pm] ardissone: ok
[12:44pm] ardissone: now that releasemania is over, hope to branch this week
[12:45pm] ardissone: anyone else have anything else?
[12:45pm] cl: if not, can we look at a few of those UNCOs?
[12:46pm] thebot joined the chat room.
[12:47pm] ardissone: isn't bug 405722 a dupe?
[12:47pm] thebot: ardissone: Bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=405722 enh, --, ---, nobody@mozilla.org, UNCO, Consider supporting some subset of Firefox's Private Data prefs
[12:47pm] cl: of?
[12:47pm] ardissone: the one asking us to be more like safari
[12:48pm] cl: it's not really the same thing as Private Browsing
[12:48pm] ardissone: bug 405723
[12:48pm] thebot: ardissone: Bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=405723 enh, --, ---, nobody@mozilla.org, NEW, Consider expanding Reset Camino to mimic Safari's new behaviour
[12:48pm] thebot: Mozilla-l10n: 'SeaMonkey comm-1.9.1 macosx l10n' has changed state from Success to Burning.
[12:48pm] cl: oh, that one
[12:49pm] ardissone: i think that's why it's never been confirmed
[12:49pm] ardissone: we don't need 2 UIs to do essentially the same thing
[12:50pm] ardissone: 405723 + private browsing sounds like a better solution
[12:50pm] cl: the big thing is that we get a lot of people who want the ability to dump cookies/cache/history on quit, automatically, but allow them during the session
[12:50pm] thebot: SeaMonkey-Ports: 'WINNT 5.2 comm-1.9.1 unit test' has changed state from Success to Burning.
[12:50pm] thebot: SeaMonkey-Ports: 'Linux comm-1.9.1 unit test' has changed state from Success to Burning.
[12:50pm] cl: what is the best way to solve that problem for those people?
[12:51pm] You kicked thebot from the chat room. (shut up)
[12:51pm] pinkerton: ha
[12:51pm] ardissone: reset camino on quit, with those boxes ticked
[12:52pm] cl: *shrug* sure, I'm OK with that.
[12:52pm] ardissone: i think those people are a significant minority, anyway
[12:52pm] cl: but it needs to be available automatically
[12:52pm] ardissone: s/significantly small/
[12:52pm] cl: or at least, automatically pop up a dialog, like Firefox, asking you if you want to do it
[12:52pm] ardissone: ?
[12:53pm] cl: because the whole "I have to remember to do this every time" thing is why they're complaining in the first place
[12:54pm] ardissone: write an AppleScript?
[12:54pm] pinkerton: heh
[12:54pm] pinkerton: automator!
[12:55pm] ardissone: wonders if pink has a secret patch for automator support? :P
[12:55pm] cl: yeah, uh, in theory, couldn't that be done *now*? :P
[12:55pm] cl: using Folder Actions etc.
[12:56pm] ardissone: sure; all the more argument for not adding excess UI to Camino to facilitate the wants of the very few ;)
[12:57pm] cl: it wasn't so few back when I filed that bug.
[12:57pm] cl: it was more like one or two feedbacks a week
[12:57pm] cl: maybe five percent of feedback was asking specifically for that sort of feature.
[12:57pm] smorgan: "that sort" = some kind of local privacy
[12:57pm] ardissone: smorgan, ss: how often do people whine about it now?
[12:57pm] pinkerton: perhaps they all just got fed up and went back to safari?
[12:58pm] smorgan: Not "I need the exact UI that Firefox provides"
[12:58pm] pinkerton: which is the pitfall of using "nobody complains anymore" as a defense
[12:58pm] smorgan: (even if some of them phrased the request as wanting the Firefox UI)
[12:59pm] ardissone: any objections to WONTFIXing the Firefox UI, then?
[1:00pm] smorgan: I think the enhanced reset is enough
[1:01pm] ardissone: and on that note...it's after 1:00 ;)
[1:02pm] ardissone: we fixed all of 2 bugs this past week and they queues appeared not to move (things got r- and came back again, mostly)
[1:02pm] ardissone: so we need to try to pick up some steam again
[1:03pm] ardissone: so everyone have a good week and work on those 2.0 bugs and reviews :)
[1:04pm] hendy left the chat room.
[1:04pm] pinkerton: l8r
