Lead in

Camino does not just allow you to look at websites, although it does a fine job of that - but also to help you manage your web browsing experience completely, while making it extremely easy.

Because Camino 0.9 is such a big update to our existsing feature set, and because it would just take to much space to introduce everything properly, shown below is a short list of highlights.

The subjects below should be depicted in a GIF image that swtches tabs and shws each feature. 世界最高のレンダリングエンジン

Web ブラウザの心臓部は、コンテンツを描画するレンダリングエンジンです。Camino は、Mozillaやあの Firefox と同じ Gecko レンダリングエンジンを使用しています。Gecko は素早く正確に Web ページを描画します。非常に高速であり、かつ最新の W3C Web 標準 （HTML、XML、XHTML、XSLT、DOM、CSS、JavaScript）、そして QuickTime、Flash、Shockwave、Java といった主要なプラグインをサポートしています。

MacOS X との親和性

Camino は MacOS X ネイティブです。Cocoa インターフェイスと美しいアイコンにより、MacOS Xのデスクトップによくマッチします。

MacOS Xとの親和性は見た目だけではありません。Camino 0.9 ではサービス、システム環境設定、Mail、アドレスブック、キーチェーン、Finder、Dock、Bonjour や Spotlight に対応しています。MacOS X 10.2〜10.4 まで幅広くサポートしていることが、私たちのシステム機能に対する注力の証です。すべてにおいて MacOS X 用ソフトウェアがあるべきシームレスなユーザ体験が得られるようにデザインされています。

迷惑な表示の防止

Camino はいらいらさせるポップアップや広告の表示を停止できます。 見たい情報を覆ってしまうウインドウや広告を防止するこの機能により、 Web サーフィンはさらに楽しくなるでしょう。

たいていのポップアップ表示は不要なものですが、ポップアップ表示が必要な Web サイトもあります。Camino がポップアップ表示を防止したとき、ステータスバーにアイコンが表示されます。このアイコンをクリックしてサイトのポップアップ表示を許可したり、Camino のポップアップ表示許可リストにアクセスすることができます。

拡張性

Camino は、ブラウザに拡張性を求めるようなユーザの声にも応えます。最新のリリースでは、ブラウザを強化する環境設定パネルを作ることできるようになりました。例えば、設定フォルダに about:config パネルをドロップするだけで、Camino のすべての設定（隠し設定も！）を変更できるようになります。また、CEP パネルならそれらの設定をGUIで変更できます。FlashBlock も使ってみましょう。このシンプルなプラグインは Flash アニメーションの表示をON-OFFすることができます。

開発ドキュメントが用意されており、Camino をより便利にするツールの開発に誰もがチャレンジできます。

タブブラウザ

タブブラウザならひとつのウインドウで複数のページを開くことができ、Web サーフィンがより快適になります。複数のウインドウそれぞれが複数のタブを持つといったやり方も可能です。新規タブを背面で読み込むか、前面にすぐ表示するかどうかを選べます。

例えば、あなたが読んでいるニュースに、関連情報のリンクがあったとします。非タブブラウザでは、リンクを新規ウインドウで開いてから元のページを前面に戻したり、ページを読み終わった後にリンクを再び探したりしないといけません。タブブラウザなら、リンクをタブで開けばページを閲覧したままリンク先を読み込めます。一度タブブラウザに慣れてしまうと、他のブラウザが使いにくく感じるようになるでしょう。

ブックマークと履歴の管理

Camino のブックマークは、お気に入りの Web サイト をただ記録するだけではありません。よく使われる機能なので、使いやすさを追求しています。開発者たちが真の Mac 体験を実現するべく努力した成果がブックマークマネージャです。iTunes や Spotlight を使っている方なら、そのシンプルな外観や分割ペイン型インターフェイスに親しみを感じるでしょう。ブックマークや履歴を検索したり、ブックマークの名前や URL を Finder と同じやり方で変更できます。ブックマークライブラリ内にフォルダを作り、ブックマークメニューやブックマークバーに好きなフォルダを表示することができます。

Download manager

Camino's download manager is compact, we believe that while all the tools should be available the download manager should allow you to do what it does and then go out of your way. The download manager is informative, allowing you to easily see all active/paused/completed/canceled downloads at a glance. And ofcourse we made sure that every tool you might want to use is available. You can easily clean the download history list or perhaps you wish to move some of the downloaded files to the trash without having to do that in the Finder. Ever been in a situation where you had to disconnect or quit your computer while you where downloading an important file, well now you can pause it and resume when ever you reconnect to the web.

It displays all pending and completed downloads as a graphical list along with information such as time until completion and download speed. The download manager saves screen space by providing one window for all of your downloading needs.

The Camino team is proud to say that our product is open-source software from head to toe. This revolutionary method of development allows a diverse group of people from around the world to work together on a product that is truly developed by and for people.

With so many eyes going over the code in Camino and especially its Gecko rendering engine, mistakes are caught quickly and the result is a more robust and secure product.

Because Camino lacks a corporate agenda, its developers are free to do what they feel is best for their users and the software community. This results in a dedication to open standards that is necessary in order for internet technology to move forward in directions that are beneficial to end-users.
