[12:14pm] ardissone|foraging: ok [12:14pm] ardissone|foraging: everyone please open your Camino 2.0a1 or newer to http://wiki.caminobrowser.org/Status_Meetings:2008-10-29:Agenda [12:14pm] ardissone|foraging: on the a1 front, we haven't heard much so far [12:15pm] ardissone|foraging: nonspecific whining from ars and tuaw [12:15pm] ardissone|foraging: or macuser, i forget [12:16pm] smorgan: And a small round of "who cares" comments [12:16pm] smorgan: good times [12:16pm] ardissone|foraging: on 10.4, there's a MASSIVE core crasher in the new native theme code [12:17pm] ardissone|foraging: it produces >700 crashes/day in Firefox 3.0.3 [12:17pm] ardissone|foraging: and accounts for about 10% of our reported Talkback [12:18pm] smorgan: Yeah, it was crashing Laura every time she loaded Google News when I first installed the alpha [12:18pm] ardissone|foraging: most of our talkbacks are hitting it via Tabsposé [12:19pm] ardissone|foraging: but at this point unless there's a magic rabbit in LA, we just have to wait and hope someone from Core will decide to figure it out [12:20pm] ardissone|foraging: smorgan: there are 3 odd-looking swizzling-related stacks there [12:20pm] ardissone|foraging: if talkback will load [12:20pm] ardissone|foraging: it died on me last night [12:21pm] ardissone|foraging: and there's still no ETA on fixing the Mac topcrash reports [12:21pm] ardissone|foraging: re-suggests the "kidnap mento" plan [12:22pm] ardissone|foraging: anything else on a1? [12:24pm] ardissone|foraging: i didn't get to look at 1.6.4 last night before talkback died [12:25pm] ardissone|foraging: need to start working on 1.6.5 this week/next week; i assume Gecko froze on Fri [12:26pm] ardissone|foraging: on to 2.0 [12:26pm] ardissone|foraging: smorgan did a bit of re-triaging of the 2.0 list last week [12:26pm] ardissone|foraging: so we're at 35 bugs right now [12:27pm] ardissone|foraging: we also need to make sure anything with l10n impact (touching a nib in any way) gets marked and nominated for b1 [12:28pm] ardissone|foraging: tabsposé needs a lot more hammering on it [12:28pm] You are now known as ardissone. [12:28pm] ardissone: it has some nasty bugs in it [12:29pm] ardissone: if you have any cycles, try looking at some of the bugs related to it [12:30pm] ardissone: while murph was waiting on his dragging tabs review, he fixed a couple regressions from the loop that were annoying us [12:30pm] ardissone: murph: anything to add? [12:31pm] murph: not too much, but now that the review is in I'm working hard to get that refreshed by this week [12:33pm] ardissone: [12:34pm] ardissone: hendy: any news from you? [12:34pm] hendy: got 2 or 3 patches in. [12:34pm] hendy: will look at some more bugs this week [12:35pm] hendy: like middle click in bookmark bar [12:35pm] hendy: and maybe some tabspose ones [12:35pm] ardissone: [12:36pm] hendy: and the zoom logic one; apart from that, no news [12:36pm] ardissone: sounds good [12:37pm] ardissone: cl|zzz was checking with batwood to see if he might finish the flashblock whitelist, since it was pretty close last review, iirc [12:37pm] cl|zzz is now known as cl. [12:37pm] cl: yeah, i still haven't heard anythin g:( [12:38pm] ardissone: if you haven't heard anything by the end of the weekend, it's probably safe [12:38pm] ardissone: it sometimes took him 2wks to reply to me before [12:39pm] ardissone: anything else interesting on your plate? [12:39pm] cl: hrm, lemme look... [12:39pm] ardissone: while you do [12:39pm] ardissone: ss: what about our icons? you promised news today [12:40pm] ss: I did. [12:40pm] ss: I have some icons on my computer that just need to be combined properly. [12:40pm] ss: Haven't had time to do that, but it's on my list. [12:40pm] ardissone: [12:40pm] ss: I have no news on *new* icons. These are *refreshed* ones. [12:40pm] ss: And were just delayed [12:40pm] cl: the feed thing is pretty much ready, I just want to see it get another review from someone who knows Gecko string code well [12:41pm] ardissone: are you "actively" seeking new icons? [12:41pm] ss: Yes [12:42pm] cl: ardissone: I think you and I need to sit down with the CBSamplePane stuff and figure out what the deal is with targets [12:42pm] cl: otherwise that's about ready [12:42pm] ardissone: [12:42pm] ardissone: k [12:42pm] ardissone: and then there's the bubble [12:43pm] cl: and the rest of my list now is mostly stuff that isn't really critical for 2.0 anyway, so I'll just do it whenever. [12:43pm] cl: Right now it looks like I'm going to have basically the last 2/3 of November off. [12:43pm] cl: so I'll have some time to work on stuff. [12:43pm] ardissone: [12:44pm] ardissone: breakpad and Gecko strings remain on the bubble [12:44pm] ardissone: no-one's working on them, and they both have major l10n impact [12:48pm] ardissone: i'm probably going to tell l10n this week that strings are in danger [12:49pm] ardissone: maybe one of them will want to take a crack at it [12:49pm] smorgan: We could hand-roll the strings we currently support localizing [12:49pm] ardissone: or, i may come back with no head [12:49pm] ardissone: the .properties, or embed-replacements? [12:50pm] smorgan: I was thinking properties [12:50pm] smorgan: That's basically waiting for automation, but we could make a file now and automate later [12:50pm] ardissone: ok, that's probably do-able since they shouldn't be changing [12:50pm] smorgan: Yeah [12:51pm] ardissone: ok, then i'll try to look at that [12:51pm] ardissone: that also gets the benefit of smart quotes [12:51pm] ardissone: anything else on 2.0? [12:53pm] cl: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384691 needs someone to take a real quick look at it (not 2.0-specific at all, though) [12:56pm] ardissone: i'm not sure i understand the use-case of having a person's card set to company [12:56pm] smorgan: Contact person at a company, presumably [12:57pm] cl: my question was more along the lines of whether we want to kill the file like dhaas said we should, and merge it into the KindaSmartFolderManager :P [12:57pm] cl: (and whether I should do that in a separate bug) [12:57pm] smorgan: How is that at all related to this bug? [12:58pm] cl: because fixing this bug would be messing around in files that we don't even need any more, if his comment is accurate. [12:58pm] smorgan: merge != remove [12:59pm] smorgan: Other than being two changes that touch the same file, I see no connection at all between changing the way we display one specific field and our class structure [1:00pm] cl: so file a separate bug, then? [1:02pm] ardissone: anything else this week? [1:03pm] ardissone: ok, then [1:04pm] ardissone: we made some progress on bugs and queues in the past week :) [1:04pm] ardissone: still a number of things wanting of review, so keep that in mind [1:04pm] ardissone: go forth and fix 2.0 bugs and have a good week! :) [1:05pm] ardissone: oh [1:06pm] ardissone: and froodian came by this weekend to tell us he was still alive and give us congrats on 2.0a1 [1:06pm] ardissone: so imagine a virtual pat on the back from him :)
