View source for QA:Camino 2.1.x and Java

Starting with version 2.1, Camino no longer includes a built-in Java plug-in, and also disables Java by default. If you need to use Java, you will need to install a Java plug-in yourself and then enable Java in Camino’s Web Features preference pane.

If you are using Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.5, you should install the Java Embedding Plugin.  If you are using Mac OS X 10.6 or 10.7, Camino will use Apple’s Java Plug-In 2, which is included when you install Java on Mac OS X (Java is an optional  install on Mac OS X 10.7).

===Installing Java Plug-In 2===

On Mac OS X 10.6, Java is installed by default.  Check with Software Update in the Apple menu to make sure your installation of Java is up-to-date.

On Mac OS X 10.7, Java is not installed by default.  If you do not already have Java installed due to another application that requires Java, you can install the latest version of Java by downloading the package from [http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1421 Apple’s website]<!-- this used to be the URL for the initial version of Java; the page was updated for Update 1 in Nov 2011, so it hopefully is a constant URL for 10.7 Java.--> and running the installer inside.
